Use the source for what it can establish

The DOJ-commissioned investigation of the 2022 exposure can document what its reviewers found. A DOJ press release establishes only what the department announced, as with the Sephora settlement. A news story like the Chronicle’s on Viridis Fuels may rest on interviews and records that need attribution. A complaint, such as the federal tax-fraud suit, describes allegations; the dismissal is what supplies the court’s disposition.

Evidence pages link the material behind their accounts. Source notes identify the publisher, date and access limitations, and DOJ’s own biography of Bonta or a DOJ press release is not presented as an independent evaluation.

Keep responses and outcomes with the account

Each denial, fix and recusal is reported next to the original event, along with whether the promised changes were actually made.

When a question is still open, we say so.

What the site covers

The site covers Bonta’s career, the 2022 data exposure, the 2023 budget reassignment, his foundation’s fundraising, the Viridis Fuels grant, his campaign’s legal expenses and Oakland Promise, plus a guide to campaign-finance records. It is a selected record, not a full review of his career.

Pages show when their sources were last reviewed, which can differ from when events happened. Running campaign totals aren’t published here; check CAL-ACCESS for current figures.

Photographs of Bonta come from California DOJ. Other photographs carry their own source and license credits; they are context, not evidence. The homepage shows covers of the cited DOJ investigation and FPPC report. AI-generated illustrations are labeled and don’t depict real filings.
